List Cleaning Campaign

Contents:
  • 3 Emails
  • 2 Thank You Page Versions
Instructions:
  • This campaign will only work if you have a system that lets you know when someone clicks links in your emails.
  • The Thank You page may not be necessary if you have a “subscription center” you would rather push your contacts to in order to unsubscribe from your list.
  • If your contact does not respond to any of the emails, it’s best to remove them from your contact list.
  • List cleaning should happen every 6 months to a year.

Email 1: Are You Still Interested?

Subject Line: Are you still interested in [PRODUCTS OR SERVICES YOU PROVIDE]

Send: Immediately

[CONTACT’S NAME],

I was looking over our records, and it seems...we haven’t heard from you in awhile. Which makes me wonder, are you still struggling with [PAIN THEY HAVE]?

More importantly...do you still want information about the [INDUSTRY] industry and [SOLUTION YOU PROVIDE] from us? I know you’re busy and there’s no need for me to send you updates, special offers, and educational content if you don’t want or need it.

So could you do me a quick favor? Will you click one of the links below letting us know your interest level?

[LINK HERE - “I’M NO LONGER INTERESTED”][LINK HERE - “PLEASE KEEP SENDING ME INFORMATION”]

Thanks, for your feedback. We’ll do everything we can to meet your needs. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at [BEST CONTACT INFO].

Pro Tip:

In the subject line, make the “products or services you provide” short and sweet. Something like:

“Are you still interested in reconnecting with your kids?”

Pro Tip:

If your business doesn’t really fit into a specific industry, feel free to just remove the words “the [INDUSTRY] industry and”

Pro Tip:

If you have a different method of gathering feedback, you’ll need to change the content in the middle about clicking on a link. Let them know how they can provide their feedback.

Email 2: Second Attempt

Subject Line: Are you still interested in this content?
Send: 2 days after email 1 if they didn’t respond

[CONTACT’S NAME],

I tried reaching out to you the other day to see if you were still interested in receiving emails from us. You see, it’s been awhile since we last connected with you. And that makes me wonder if you’re still interested in hearing from us.

If you haven’t opened your emails lately, some of the information we sent recently included:

  • A link to [SOMETHING YOU’VE LINKED]
  • An offer for [LAST OFFER]
  • My thoughts on [LAST THOUGHT OR INSPIRATIONAL EMAIL]

Are those things you’d like to continue receiving from us?

By clicking on one of the links below, you can let us know if we should still be reaching out to you.

[LINK HERE - “I’M NO LONGER INTERESTED”] [LINK HERE - “PLEASE KEEP SENDING ME INFORMATION”]

You’re busy and we don’t want to waste your time sending something you don’t want or need. So thanks for your feedback and for being part of our community.

Pro Tip:

The idea behind this email is to see if your contact will engage with you. We suggest linking the recently sent bulleted items if they are still applicable - blog posts, articles, etc. If your contact clicks on one of those links but doesn’t respond to your question, you can guess they’re still interested.

Pro Tip:

The bulleted items are suggestions of what you can say you sent recently. If you wanted to include 3 blog posts, or an article and 2 webinar recordings, or any other combination, that’s great. Choose a handful of content pieces you think your prospects (especially one who hasn’t responded in a while) might enjoy.

Email 3: Final Attempt

Subject Line: Last chance to stay on our contact list
Send: 2 days after email 2 if they haven’t responded

[CONTACT’S NAME],

It’s been tough getting in touch with you. Is everything okay?

I value your time and would hate to send you something you didn’t want or need. And that’s why I’ve got to try asking you again...do you still want to receive emails from us?

If not, or if you don’t respond to this email, we’re going to remove your name from our email list. That way, I only send information about [SOLUTION YOU PROVIDE], to people who are looking for it.

You can easily decide whether you’d like to continue receiving emails from us, by clicking on one of the links below:

[LINK HERE - “I’M NO LONGER INTERESTED”][LINK HERE - “PLEASE KEEP SENDING ME INFORMATION”]

Thanks for your help! I hope you still want to be part of our community.
