Financially Support Your Fiction-Writing Passion with this “Secret” Career
While you’re writing “The Great American Novel”, you could be making thousands of dollars a month. Discover the flexible, “work-from-home” opportunity that easily keeps the bills paid and leaves you plenty of time to work on your manuscripts.
“It sounds too good to be true!” That’s what I hear EVERY single time I explain what I do as a copywriter. Because I…
- Work from home
- Choose my own schedule
- Made $30/hour when I had no idea what I was doing (I now make about $150/hour)
- NEVER sell anything to friends and family
- Always have as much (or as little) work as I want
- Get to do what I love the most – write!
And if that’s not compelling enough, maybe this will be: I work on my novels WHENEVER I want. And you could be doing the very same thing!
If you have ANY interest in marketing (and we already know you love to write), then copywriting could be a very natural, profitable opportunity for you. Your education level doesn’t matter. Your age doesn’t matter. Where you live doesn’t matter. If you’re interested in making money, on your own terms, then copywriting is something you’ll want to consider.
How I Got Into Copywriting and Why It’s the “Secret” Career You’ve Been Looking For
11 years ago, copywriting (not copyrighting – that’s a whole different thing) fell in my lap. Almost literally.
My husband was working full time, but we really needed two incomes. However…I was itching to write my novels. HAD to write my novels. So, using the equity in our house to keep us afloat, I gave myself a year to get my first novel written and published. Near the end of that year, I had yet to find an agent and only one complete manuscript to my name.
As I sorted through the mail one day, a letter about copywriting fell in my lap. I read the letter, bought the course, and decided I’d give it a try.
I won’t bore you with details. Rather, let’s fast forward to today where I’m working from home (my husband and I both have our own businesses), filling my role as a stay-at-home mom to 3 kids (ages 7, 5, & 3), and working on a brand new manuscript.
Copywriting has been a dream-come-true for me. And it could be for you, too! So why haven’t you ever heard about it before?
Well, for a couple of reasons really:
#1 There isn’t a copywriting degree. Until recently colleges barely even covered marketing, let alone copywriting. To become a great copywriter, there’s really only one place to learn – from those who are actually in the trenches (so to speak).
#2 We usually don’t get credit for our work. As a copywriter, you’ll be writing emails, letters, and websites from the “voice” of the business – usually the CEO or President of the company. You’ll be the Man (or Woman) Behind the Curtain. But…you’ll be the Person Behind the Curtain collecting a nice paycheck.
#3 We rarely vocalize what we do. For two reasons really. Number one – we don’t want to explain what a copywriter does. (By the way, the easiest answer to that question is “I write marketing materials – websites, emails. That kind of stuff.”)
Number two – the moment you say you’re a copywriter, every small business owner in the area finds you. Which is a good problem to have! But unless you want to spend your time telling people you’re too busy to take on more work and no, you don’t have anyone you can refer them to, it’s easier not to say anything.
The only reason you’re hearing about copywriting from me, is because I have failed to stay “hidden”. I’ve helped so many business owners with their marketing, that I get referrals every single day.
There is a HUGE demand for copywriters. Which I won’t get into now. I’ll suffice it to say businesses desperately need copywriters, so our course was created to help fill the void.
Now…why do I want you to take the course?
Well, I have this theory. In a moment, you’re going to understand why my theory is completely valid. But my theory is this…
Fiction Writers Make the Best Copywriters
Let me explain.
The #1 rule for writing effective copy is: Know Your Prospect. Persuading anyone to take action requires you to know who that person is. What do they like? What do they dislike? What are they worried about? What motivates them? What scares them? What will they do in this situation? Or in that situation?
By the time you’re done assessing your prospect, you’re going to know them inside and out.
Sound at all familiar?
It should. “Knowing Your Prospect” isn’t any different than the characterization process we use as we develop our stories. And, like you, if I ever met my fictional characters in person, I would know them in a minute.
More importantly, I would know how to get them to take action. And that is the key to incredible success in the copywriting world.
This course will help YOU, specifically:
- Get into the heads of your prospects faster than other copywriters
- Come up with incredibly effective “big ideas” (these are like story plots)
- Crank out your content with record speed
- Help your readers connect with your words
- Motivate prospects to take action NOW
AND…you’ll get some serious satisfaction out of what you’re doing! Especially because you never have to work on anything unless it interests you.
Simply Choose the Type of Writing that “Speaks” To You
So what, exactly, does a copywriter write? Well, that’s the ridiculously cool part…pretty much anything you want to. Most of us specialize in something. But that “something” might be:
- Emails
- Websites
- Blog Posts
- Facebook Ads
- Pay Per Click Ads
- Video Scripts
- Sales Pages
- Direct Mail
- Postcards
- Newsletters
- Etc.
If it’s got words, and it’s being used for marketing purposes, then it fits under the “copywriting” category. (This page you’re reading? Yeah, you could write this.)
And you get to write about topics that interest you. As a freelancer, you choose the companies you work with. If you like medicine, you could write for doctors. If you enjoy sports, you could write for sports clubs, gyms, personal trainers, etc.
Because most small business owners could use a copywriter, you can easily find industries you enjoy. Or find an industry you’ve never even heard of and learn something new.
It’s entirely up to you. As a freelancer you write (or don’t write) whatever you want.
At this point, you undoubtedly want to know how you get started, right? And I’m super excited to tell you. But first, I want to share one more, VERY IMPORTANT thought with you:

I was introduced to Stephanie through her book, The Content War. After gleaning all the information I could through her writing, I was fortunate enough to work with Stephanie one-on-one. Her tutoring gave me the confidence I needed to get my first client and start my own freelance copywriting business. She is a gifted teacher and an amazing mentor who continues to guide me in my copywriting journey. I highly recommend her course.
Stephanie Fleming not only taught me how to write copy but helped me develop confidence to seek out opportunities to use those skills. As a result, I worked from home and freelance wrote copy for numerous small businesses.
The Other Benefit of This Course – You’ll Learn How to Market Your Books More Effectively
Okay, so I’ve already mentioned that writing copy is extremely profitable. I’ve also said you can choose how, where, and when you work. But do you want to know why fiction writers are going to benefit from this course more than anyone else?
Because this course incorporates critical marketing principles. That’s right! In addition to great pay and setting your own hours, you’re going to learn the best way to market any product. Including…dun, dun, dun…your books!
You are painfully aware that publishing companies do almost nothing to promote and sell your books. If you want to get your books on the shelves of even your local bookstore, it’s up to you to make it happen.
Our course will show you how to:
- Easily generate new leads (or fans)
- Keep prospects interested in you and your novels – even when they’re not ready to buy yet
- Encourage customers to buy from you again
- Stay in touch with ALL your contacts, no matter how busy you are
- And so much more!
Imagine sitting at your computer, writing copy, making money, and generating a ton of great ideas for promoting your novels. The more you work at copywriting, the more immersed you get in the marketing world, the more you’ll understand how to help yourself.
Here’s the thing about marketing skills…a shocking number of copywriters don’t have ANY marketing knowledge. They write only what they are asked to write. They never even see the big picture. And so their skill set is severely limited.
With our course, the education you get will instantly propel you into “high-demand” status. Business owners will seek you out as much for what you know as for how well you can write. Then, while you’re making money writing copy on the side, you’ll be putting your marketing know-how to work for yourself.
Stephanie’s methods truly work. I had never written copy before and I was very worried that I wasn’t good enough. She not only taught me how to be a great copywriter, but she also took the time to personally mentor me and help me feel confident in my skills. Her course was SO easy to understand and follow. By the time I was done with it, I was writing copy, working from home, and getting paid!
Stephanie also helped me find copywriting work and taught me how to market myself as a copywriter. As a single mother, this had been an incredible way to make a living while being there for my children. Thanks again, Stephanie!
